Delegate profile and the WMS

Members of the World Muscle Society from all around the world make up around half of the WMS Congress audience. Members are professionals actively working in the neuromuscular field, studying neuromuscular disorders, or involved in the management of patients with these disorders. The remaining audience is made up of non-WMS member professionals working in the field of neuromuscular disorders.

Our first hybrid Congress took place in 2022 in Halifax, Canada, and we were encouraged by the level of participation. We continued with a hybrid format in 2023 in Charleston, USA, 2024 in Prague, Czechia, 2025 in Vienna, Austria, and will continue for WMS 2026 in Hiroshima, Japan.

Main aims of the WMS are:

  1. To provide continual learning, education, and guidance to the next generation of neuromuscular healthcare professionals through training, mentoring, championing, coaching, and leading
  2. To drive scientific discoveries and innovation; making decisions based on scientific evidence rather than opinion or instinct
  3. To be a welcoming and supportive multidisciplinary community, learning from one another and working together towards our shared aims
  4. To improve access for colleagues to cutting-edge neuromuscular knowledge and educational events
  5. To promote our values: Educational, Scientific, Collaborative, and Inclusive

"Overall, the Congress was very well organized and inspiring. The scientific content was excellent, and the sense of community among participants made the experience especially meaningful. As a participant, I truly appreciated the opportunity to learn directly from leading experts and to connect with peers from around the world. I’m grateful to have attended and look forward to participating again in the future.”
